SUMMARY:M2A2 Symposium: Control of reaction-diffusion models by E. Zuazua
DESCRIPTION:On June 8th, our Head Prof. Enrique Zuazua will talk on “Control of reaction-diffusion models” at the M2A2 – Mathematical Modeling and Analysis Conference organized from June 7th to 9th organized by Mathematics Münster (MM) at University of Münster (Germany) in honor of Angela Stevens‘ sum_{k=1,2,3} (k+2) th birthday and supported by Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster.\nThis conference covers various mathematical topics she has been working on: Mathematical modeling, analysis of PDEs, dynamical systems and stochastic many particle systems. Speakers are scientists Angela Stevens has been working and sharing paths of her mathematical journey with.\n• Talk by E. Zuazua: “Control of reaction-diffusion models“\nAbstract. Inspired by problems arising in social and biological sciences, with present recent work of our team on the control scalar reaction-diffusion equations with bistable nonlinearities. The intrinsic nature of the phenomena under consideration imposes positivity constraints on the controlled trajectories, that are hard to be preserved under the action of controls.\nWe shall show how the employment of travelling wave solutions and continuous paths of steady states allows, in some cases, to control these models, so that, out of the initial configuration, the final desired one is reached, preserving the constraints. But we shall also exhibit some barrier effects that arise when the diffusivity is too small or the domain in which the diffusion process evolves is too large, making such control properties impossible.\nThese results are in agreement with numerical simulations and experimental observations.\n\nRegistration\nFill out the registration form to attend this event\nProgram\nCheck the schedule of the event\n|| Book of Abstracts\n\nWHERE\nHall M2.
