Entre el 22 y el 30 de agosto de aquel a\u00f1o se celebr\u00f3 <\/strong><strong>la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icm2006.org\/paginas\/home_esp.html\">XXV Conferencia Internacional de Matem\u00e1ticos (ICM-2006)<\/a> a la que asistieron m\u00e1s de 5.000 personas dedicadas profesionalmente a las matem\u00e1ticas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El escenario elegido para aquel encuentro de algunas de las mentes m\u00e1s brillantes del mundo, agrupadas en la Uni\u00f3n Matem\u00e1tica Internacional, fue el Palacio Municipal de Congresos del recinto ferial del Campo de las Naciones.<\/p>\n<p>Cuarenta a\u00f1os antes de aquel Congreso Mundial naci\u00f3 el singular matem\u00e1tico ruso <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.es\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;sqi=2&amp;ved=0CCAQFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fes.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FGrigori_Perelm%25C3%25A1n&amp;ei=DhegU8XzAsnOygOvqYLwCQ&amp;usg=AFQjCNF43Lq3VL-qkAHCMAf0spMz8QutRQ&amp;sig2=E62BfMDMXXUD5EVsEEJe1A&amp;bvm=bv.68911936,d.d2k\"><strong>Grigori Grisha Perelman<\/strong> <\/a>\u00a0que logr\u00f3 resolver en 2002 la conjetura propuesta por otro genio, esta vez franc\u00e9s, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.es\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CCAQFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fes.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FHenri_Poincar%25C3%25A9&amp;ei=7hagU_L9BsP60gWK2YCoBQ&amp;usg=AFQjCNF-QVYCDMfhJ48-mTltj2vs25gLgw&amp;sig2=c-EGy9rnznslniw6hLaeqA&amp;bvm=bv.68911936,d.d2k\"><strong>Henri Poincar\u00e9<\/strong> <\/a>(1854-1912), aunque se neg\u00f3 a recoger el premio (la Medalla Fields) que se le iba a conceder en aquel encuentro.<\/p>\n<p>En un arrebato de modestia y pudor <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cmc.deusto.eus\/enzuazua\/wagner-mozart-poincare-y-perelman-2\/\">lleg\u00f3 a decir<\/a><\/strong>: \u201cNo quiero estar expuesto como un animal en el zool\u00f3gico. No soy un h\u00e9roe de las matem\u00e1ticas. Ni siquiera soy tan exitoso.
