Abstract. This colloquium will focus on the computational development and statistical analysis of non-standard cosmological models within state-of-the-art Boltzmann solvers. I will present the implementation of a dark matter model based on a relativistic kinetic gas and its direct incorporation into the CLASS code. The discussion will cover modifications to the background evolution and linear perturbation equations, emphasizing the choice of variables, initial conditions, numerical stability, and precision control.

I will then examine the impact of the model on key cosmological observables, including CMB anisotropies and the growth of large-scale structure. The talk will conclude with an overview of the Bayesian inference pipeline using MontePython, detailing the introduction of new cosmological parameters, prior choices, customized likelihoods, and convergence diagnostics, with the goal of deriving observational constraints from current cosmological data. This colloquium is intended as a practical guide for developing, testing, and statistically analyzing new cosmological models in a realistic computational framework.
