University of Deusto in the ERC Advanced Grant CoDeFeL project framework invites applications for one (01) open position as Web Manager at the ERC CoDeFeL, Control for Deep and Federated Learning project.

DeustoTech – Deusto Institute of Technology is the technological research center of the University of Deusto, located on the Bilbao campus, whose mission is to promote research, training and knowledge transfer at the service of society and industry. Within DeustoTech, the Chair of Computational Mathematics, is dedicated to advancing research, training, and outreach in various aspects of Applied Mathematics. Our team works actively in the broad area of Applied Mathematics and Machine Learning, developing and applying methods of Mathematical and Computational Mathematics to model, understand, design and control the dynamics of various phenomena arising in the interface of Mathematics with Engineering, Physics, Environment and Climate Sciences and Social Sciences.

In particular, CoDeFeL seeks to make a breakthrough that takes the mathematical foundations of Machine Learning beyond their present frontiers, through the systematic development of new ideas and methods inspired by control theory. The project is developed by the “Chair for Dynamics, Control, Machine Learning, and Numerics – Alexander von Humboldt Professorship (FAU DCN-AvH) in cooperation with the University of Deusto in Bilbao (https://cmc.deusto.eus), Basque Country, Spain led by Enrique Zuazua.

DeustoTech is seeking a part-time Web Manager with experience in web development, digital communication and the management of online scientific resources. Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the research team and DeustoTech’s management staff, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining and coordinating the project’s digital presence, supporting its communication strategy and managing its digital resources. The Web Manager will contribute to the dissemination, visibility and accessibility of the project’s scientific activities, research outputs and international opportunities, thereby maximizing the impact of the ERC Advanced Grant CoDeFeL within the international research community and society. The position combines web development, digital communication and research support within one of Europe’s leading frontier research projects in Applied Mathematics and Machine Learning.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Information Technologies or a related discipline. Equivalent higher vocational qualifications together with relevant professional experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in web development, website administration or digital communication.
  • Experience in the dissemination of research activities, scientific communication or the management of digital resources will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an international and multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of initiative, autonomy and responsibility.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish. Knowledge of Basque will be considered an asset.
  • Results-oriented approach, with a commitment to achieving project objectives and delivering high-quality outcomes.

 
Technical skills
The successful candidate should demonstrate experience in most of the following technologies and tools:

  • Web development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and related frameworks).
  • WordPress administration, theme customization and database management.
  • General-purpose programming languages, preferably Python.
  • Git and GitHub for collaborative software development and version control.
  • Scientific computing software (e.g. MATLAB or Scilab).
  • LaTeX for scientific documentation.
  • GNU/Linux, Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Basic administration of web services and digital infrastructures.
