I am a visiting scientist at FAU DCN-AvH, the Chair for Dynamics, Control, Machine Learning and Numerics – Alexander von Humboldt Professorship at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Bavaria (Germany).
I earned my PhD in Mathematics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1993).

Currently, I am a full professor at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the Federal Fluminense University and holds a CNPq research productivity grant (1-D).
My experience in the field of Mathematics focuses on Partial Differential Equations and Control Theory.

I have supervised 12 master’s students and 11 doctoral students and since September 2020 I’m the coordinator of the online international “Seminar on PDEs and Applied Mathematics”, where renowned mathematicians from around the world give lectures.

From 2024, I’m the leader of the PDE Control Research Group at IME-UFF and coordinator of the Brazil-Germany PROBRAL CAPES-DAAD project “Control and numerical analysis of complex systems” between UFF, Federal Fluminense University and FAU, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (2024 – 2027).
