Chinese-European cooperation about Computational Contact Mechanics
Dr. Enrique Zuazua and Dr. Shiping Huang during his first visit to CCM

Spain. 25.02.2020. Dr. Shiping Huang received a grant called “China-Europe Talent Program” from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) to join the ERC Advanced Grant project DyCon under the supervision of Prof. Enrique Zuazua (FAU, Deusto Foundation-University of Deusto and UAM) for a period of six months. According to the bilateral cooperation agreement between the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the European Commission, the two sides will jointly support Chinese researchers in the EU to conduct research activities.

In 2019 more than 500 ERC-funded teams were open to accept the applicants from China and 8 applications were approved: Dr. Huang will work with Professor Zuazua in Computational Contact Mechanics (09/2019-02/2021). Over the last few weeks Dr. Huang has actively participated with the DyCon team at Deusto Foundation – University of Deusto (Bilbao, Basque Country) as part of his first research mission.

Dr. Shiping Huang is currently an associate professor of Civil Engineering and Mechanics at South China University of Technology (Guangzhou, China). He finished his PhD degree in Civil Engineering at University of Kansas (2011). From 2014 to 2016, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Physics & Astronomy department at John’s Hopkins University. Dr. Huang’ research has been supported by three NSFC projects and focused upon the computational mechanics and structural health monitoring and he has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles.
